Tendering set to start for £10m Ayrshire housing framework 

It will shortly be issuing a contract notice to establish a framework of contractors to undertake refurbishment and upgrade works to meet the 'Homes fit for 21st Century Living Standard'. 

The prior information notice gives an opportunity for contractors to record their interest in the framework. It is envisaged that the contract notice will be published within two months.

Casey refurbishes second Salford tower block

Fitzwarren Court in Pendleton was scheduled to be demolished as part of a wider £120m regeneration of the area, but the plans were halted in 2016 when social housing provider Salix Homes secured funding to modernise the block.

Salix Homes is investing £7.5m to refurbish the 1970s high-rise along with 10 terraced homes on the neighbouring Rosehill Close.

Burridge broadens into social housing

Newcastle builder Burridge Construction has diversified into social housing after 50 years of specialising in refurbishment and commercial house-building.

Burridge Construction has won a contract to build bungalows for over 55s on behalf of North Star Housing Group in Stockton-on-Tees.

The £870,000 project is part funded by Homes England and is scheduled for completion in early 2019.

Primark plans Belfast store restoration

Retailer Primark says it plans to retain and refurbish the façade of its Belfast store that was gutted by fire a few weeks ago. Primark has lodged an application to Belfast City Council for listed building consent for conservation works to Bank Buildings, “involving the taking down, recording and assessment for restoration purposes of the building above the fourth-floor cornice line to the Bank Street, Castle Street and Castle Place elevations of the building for off-site storage”.
