New Century Hall is a historic, multipurpose entertainment and food venue which has undergone a £10 million refurbishment as part of the NOMA regeneration project in Manchester City Centre – designed to breathe new life into the area’s rich heritage.
As part of Sheila Bird Studio’s award-winning renovation project, which led to them picking up ‘Project of the Year 2022 – Bar & Leisure Interiors’ at the Mixology North 22 Awards, they asked Concept Cubicle Systems to assist them with their vision for New Century.
From this, we supplied and installed several striking washroom solutions that could withstand constant daily use and heavy footfall while matching the space Sheila Bird Studio had designed – a bright, mid-century aesthetic that the legendary venue is known for.
The basement is home to a cutting-edge creative hub, so we installed Superloos which offer maximum privacy and full handwashing and hand-drying facilities for their users.
To conceal the pipework in the basement washroom, we installed easy-to-clean IPS panelling using EGGER MFC panels in bright U540 Denim Blue, U420 Purple, and U646 Niagara Green colours, specified by Sheila Bird Studio. The result made for a striking contrast against our Polyrey Compact Grade Laminate panelling, which featured a neutral G059 Gris Orage finish.
On the ground floor, their resident independent food traders who attract plenty of hungry customers. For New Century’s gender-neutral toilet areas, we supplied and installed durable, deep-coloured R057 Rouge Amarante laminate duct panels.
For the iconic venue on the first floor, we installed scratch-resistant Force Privacy cubicles in the male and female WCs to enhance privacy, with easy-to-maintain laminate duct panels. And to accommodate their high footfall, we installed modern, multi-user urinal and solid surface wash troughs in the male WCs, and stylish solid surface vanities in the female WCs – with premium-looking pilasters, partitions, panels and cubicle doors in B070 Blanc Megève.
